Putting on lipstick: you think it’d be simple. Well, it’s not always so easy. Especially when it comes to liquid lipstick. This stuff provides high-impact color that lasts for hours.
The problem is it’s not as easy to apply.
The lipstick can get everywhere, making you look like a mess in no time. Or, it can end up looking absolutely stunning. I’m guessing you want the second option, so here’s how to do it.
Step One: Exfoliate Your Lips
Slough off any dead skin cells with a great lip scrub, like this one. Make sure your lips are silky smooth and free of dead skin before the next step.
Step Two: Moisturize Your Lips
Any lip balm will work for this. Either apply a small amount, or let a large amount sit for a while before wiping it away.
Apply Excess Foundation To Your Lip Area
Whether you used a brush or a sponge, you should have a bit leftover from earlier application. Dab a little foundation over the area so the color of the lipstick shows up as true as possible.
If You Have A Lip Liner, Line Your Lips First
If you have a defined lip line to start with, it’s much easier to fill in the gaps. Line your lips how you usually would, using a liner in a similar color to the lipstick.
Start From The Center & Not At The Lip Line
There are two ways you can go about this, depending on how big your lips are. If they’re on the smaller side, take out the liquid lipstick applicator and wipe off the excess on the inside of the tube.
If they’re larger, don’t wipe off excess product, just start from the center, away from your lip liner, until there’s not a lot of excess product on the wand.
For both lip sizes, start from the center of the bottom lip, then open your mouth and work from the corners back into the center. Do the center of your top lip, paying special attention to the cupid’s bow.
Then, work from the corners back inward again for the top lip. Go over it all one more time if you see fit.
Clean It Up With Concealer
Once the liquid lipstick has dried (this is important, you don’t want to smear it everywhere,) use a small brush and some concealer the color of your skin to clean up any small imperfections.
