Dreamy Moonshine
Growing up, my favorite frozen treat definitely would have to be the Dreamsicle. During the summer, I would run out to the ice cream truck and that would be the only thing I’d order.
Now that I’m an adult, another summer treat that I’ve added to my list was moonshine. This stuff is super strong, but there’s something really delicious about it, especially if you flavor it right.
There are dozens of different moonshine flavors. From fresh peach to cinnamon-spiked apple pie, you really can’t go wrong with one of these… especially if you do this ultimate moonshine flavor.
I decided that the only way to have the ultimate summer treat was to combine my two summer loves: the Dreamsicle, and moonshine. After a quick Google search, I realized someone else had the same idea.
This recipe comes from Wide Open Eats, and it’s genius. If you wanna make your own, first you’ll start by grabbing your ingredients.
You will need:
- orange juice (I chose no pulp, but it’s up to you)
- granulated sugar
- powdered French Vanilla coffee creamer (why powdered? Check out Wide Open Eats’ article by clicking here.)
- vanilla extract
- vanilla vodka
- Everclear or plain moonshine
- vanilla bean (optional)

How It’s Done
Making the moonshine is pretty simple. Start by boiling together your orange juice, creamer, and sugar until everything is dissolved.
If you have a vanilla bean, add this as well to develop a deeper flavor. From here, it’s time to infuse this mixture into the perfect moonshine. You can click here to learn how to do that.
This moonshine only gets better with time, so if you store it and decide to give it as a gift after a while, whoever is gifted this is gonna love it.
