Being sick stinks. There’s really no way around it. Everyone gets sick, unfortunately. Luckily, there are ways to make a cold a lot easier to handle: cold medicine, lots of fluids, and vitamin C, among others.

One of my favorite methods for treating a cold is menthol chest rub and hot showers. Both of these open up your sinuses and make congestion a lot less annoying. Plus, I don’t know about you, but I love the smell of the chest rub. I could seriously bathe in that stuff.

YouTuber Justin Romero found a way to literally do just that. These shower steamers dissolve and let off that awesome scent we all know and love. Mix that and the steam from the shower? Goodbye congestion!

He starts by combining corn starch, chest rub, and water until it’s in a wet sand-like consistency. If you want it to really fizz, you can also add some citric acid. For color, add food coloring, and if you really want your shower to be full of that minty goodness, add a few drops of peppermint and/or eucalyptus essential oil.

Once this is all mixed together, pack it into a mold. Justin uses an ice cube tray, but any mold will work. Stick it in the freezer for 20 minutes, then pop them out and they’re ready to use!

If you have a cold, I promise you this is going to help. Even if you don’t have a cold, your showers are going to be so much better than they were before!
