I’m obsessed with galaxy print. It could be printed on anything and I’d find a way to rock it. I’m currently redecorating my room and needed some wall art, so I decided to give this galaxy diamond a try.

You don’t have to be super artistic to make this painting. In fact, you don’t need any sort of artistic skill at all.

All you’ll need is a canvas (hers is 25x30cm,) some acrylic paint, a sponge, a toothpick or dotting tool, and some tape in two thicknesses– she uses packing tape and scotch tape.

As for colors, you can go with as many or as few as you’d like. She uses about 6-7 colors.

First, lay your canvas on a work surface. Take your thick tape and make a straight line across the top. Then, make two triangles at the bottom corners.

Cover the top corners with some tape, smaller than the bottom triangles. Now you have your basic diamond shape out of 5 pieces total (or more if you totally cover the corners).

Use your thinner tape to make the dimensions of the diamond. Use one line of tape to separate the top and the point. Then form 3 equal triangles on the bottom, and 4 equal triangles on top.

You’ll use 7 pieces of tape total for this. I suggest starting by separating the diamond, then working bottom to top.

Take your sponge and pick up your first color. Dab around the diamond, making sure the color kind of fades at the edges. Repeat with all of your other colors.

Once you lay out all of your colors, you may want to use your fingers, a brush, or the sponge to make the colors fade how you’d like.

Use a toothpick, a dotting tool, a brush, or whatever you see fit to dot on some stars. You can also paint one or a few big stars in the galaxy print as well.

Wait for the paint to dry, pull off the tape, and you’re done!

I can’t wait to hang this up in my room. I think it’s going to look amazing.

What colors are you planning on using for yours?
