Topiaries are gorgeous. These plants double as pieces of art and look amazing no matter where you put them.
Unfortunately, I don’t know the first thing about gardening, buying a topiary costs about a hundred bucks minimum, and the shape I love the most– a spiral — is probably really difficult and expensive to upkeep.
I figured the best way to avoid upkeep and gardening errors would be to buy a fake spiral topiary. Once again, super expensive. So on a whim, I typed “spiral topiary DIY” into Google, and I hit the jackpot.
YouTube channel ChicOnTheCheap came up with a genius way to make a spiral topiary, and all of the supplies are found at the dollar store.
I was shocked when I saw what she used to make the spiral: a pool noodle. How did she come up with this?
With the pool noodle, some moss, a broomstick, some hot glue, tape, contact paper, and a planter, she makes a spiral topiary that looks so real.
She bought all of her supplies at the dollar store, so it’s safe to say this DIY cost her way less than it would have if she bought a ready-made topiary!
I can’t wait to make a couple of these for my backyard. I have some pool noodles from a few years back that I don’t use anymore, so I’m going to make use out of them with this!
If you’re planning on giving this a shot, be sure to show it off– no one is going to believe you when you say what it’s made of!
