Lipstick can be expensive, and finding the right shade for you can be next to impossible. So why not create a cheap lipstick in the perfect shade for you?

Believe it or not, non toxic crayons can be turned into makeup. I know it sounds crazy, but once you give it a try and create your perfect shade, you’ll be mad you didn’t use school supplies as makeup earlier!

Here’s how to turn your favorite crayon shade into the perfect lipstick.

What you’ll need:

  • Coconut oil
  • Non-toxic crayons in the color(s) of your choice
  • Knife
  • Pot of water
  • Mini mason jar
  • Something to stir with
  • Container/palette for the finished product(s)

Take a pot and fill it up about halfway with water. Bring it to a boil and place in your mason jar. Make sure the mason jar is sticking out of the water and it’s touching the bottom.

Add 1/2 tsp. of coconut oil to the mason jar. Cut off about 1″ of crayon with your knife and add it to the oil. You can add more or less crayon depending on how sheer you’d like the lipstick to be.

Stir the crayon and oil over the heat until it melts. Use something like tongs to remove the mason jar from the water. Pour the mixture into your container of choice, and once it cools, it’s ready to use!

Who knew crayons were a beauty secret? These lipsticks actually look and feel amazing. I was so surprised when I tried it for the first time!

I created some crazy colors for fun. A blue, a purple, a yellow, and a black. Even if you don’t know what you’re going to use the colors for, I had a ton of fun experimenting.
