Country Fried Steak with gravy is a staple comfort food. It’s rich, full of flavor, and extremely addicting. Recently, I came across a twist on this classic dish that I knew I needed to try.
They’re called Country Fried Steak Bites. It’s all the goodness of regular Country Fried Steak, but without the knife and fork. Think of it like chicken nuggets. It’s the same concept, but steak. I know, I’m drooling too.

It’s a perfect meal for kids, or for anyone who doesn’t wanna wash extra dishes.
It’s seriously so good and I can’t get enough of it. Wanna give it a shot? Here’s how you make it.
Ingredients
- 3.5 lbs – Top Round Steak (Cube Steak can be substituted if you want to skip the pounding step.)
- 2 Cups – Flour
- 2 Cups – Milk
- 1 tbsp – Black Pepper
- 2 tsp – Salt
- Oil for frying/gravy
Directions
Cut steak into 1/2″ strips. If necessary, use a meat hammer and pound out until 1/4″ thick. In a large bowl, combine flour, black pepper and salt. Toss meat into flour mixture until well coated.
Toss floured steak into a bowl of cold milk and then dredge back into the flour. Fry in 350º oil for 2-3 minutes or until nice and golden brown.
Once all of the steak has been fried, drain the oil and reserve 1/4 cup. Put 1/2 cup of the seasoned flour used to coat the steak into the oil and cook over med low heat for 2 minutes.
Add one cup of the milk used for the dredging and one cup of fresh milk. The milk used for the dredging will already have a lot of leftover salt and pepper from the dredging process.
Continue to stir until thickened, taste for seasoning.
Enjoy!
