One Little Change

A classic Dresden quilt is one of the easiest quilts you can make, especially if you have access to a template to make each piece uniform.

Instead of making a plain Dresden, bring a little sunshine to your life and turn that plain ol’ pattern into a sunburst!

That’s right, you can take a plain Dresden and make it into something completely different with just a small modification. Once you make it, you’ll be just as obsessed with it as I am!

Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company sews this up in a video tutorial, and with one little trick, making the sunburst couldn’t be any easier.

Here’s what you’ll need to make it:

How It’s Made

After sewing together each piece of the regular Dresden, you add a folded piece of solid fabric to create a little sunburst in between each.

You’ll add this to a large piece of background fabric to create the block as a whole. Just one more touch and it’s done.

Then, you’ll use a piece of fabric and fusible interfacing to seal off the middle. Then that’s your Dresden! Just sew together your blocks, add any borders, and your quilt top is done!
