We all have them: a stash of plastic bags that have accumulated for months. Every time we go to the grocery store, we add to that stash.

People use these for all sorts of things: trash can liners, storage bags, and more. But why let them keep accumulating if you can take what you already have and turn them into something better?

Picture this: all of those plastic bags coming together to form a larger, stronger, better bag that can carry all of your groceries. It’s basically the best way to recycle!

Believe it or not, you can make this yourself, and it’s incredibly easy to do. What could be better than saving the planet with a DIY bag? Let’s get started making one.

This DIY comes from Hometalk on YouTube, and it’s incredibly simple to do. Here’s how it’s done

The majority of this DIY project is simply cutting and ironing. That’s right, ironing. With parchment paper as a protector, the heat of an iron can fuse thin plastic bags together.

The result? A much stronger, much longer-lasting plastic bag that you can use for all sorts of things. Add a handle or change the length or width, and the ultimate shopping bag is yours.

Start by trimming your bags to squares of plastic. Then, place a piece of parchment paper on top. With a hot iron, iron over the parchment paper, which will fuse the bags together.

As you can see in the video below, the method to fusing these bags allows you a ton of freedom in terms of what shape, size, and strength you’d like.

In addition, fusing together a ton of these, then sewing them all together into “patchwork,” along with a handle, gives you possibly the strongest bag ever. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be making a ton!
