You know what they say– some good whiskey makes everything better. This definitely rings true for dessert. If you haven’t had a sweet treat with a hint of whiskey, you haven’t lived.

One of my favorite desserts are fritters. They’re fruity, sweet, crunchy, and deep fried. I don’t know what else you could possibly want.

Apple fritters are generally the norm. Then I found peach fritters and my world changed forever. Then I found peach fritters made with whiskey, and I nearly fainted from how great these tasted.

I got the recipe from Laura Vitale. She hosts Laura in the Kitchen on YouTube, and her recipes are amazing.

Take your tastebuds on the ride of your life. Here’s the recipe.

For the fritters:

  • 1 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 peaches, peeled & diced
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the glaze:

  • 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp whiskey
  • 2 or 3 tbsp water

Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and sugar. Add eggs, milk, vanilla, and butter, then stir everything together until well combined.

Fold in chopped peaches, then set batter aside while you preheat oil to 360-370 degrees F. You don’t want it any hotter, or it could burn the outside before the inside cooks.

Drop spoonfuls of batter in hot oil and cook for a couple of minutes, or until a deep golden brown on all sides.

Drain on a paper towel lined plate. Set aside.

For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, whiskey, and water until it’s a thin paste. Dip in each fritter then place them dipped side up on a wire rack with something under to catch the drips.

When the glaze hardens, they’re ready to eat!
