Egg Salad Sandwiches
One of the easiest and cheapest meals there is is an egg salad sandwich. Mix together some hard boiled eggs with some mayo and a few other ingredients, spread it on some bread, and it’s ready to go.
But what is the ultimate egg salad sandwich? How can you make it the most delicious sandwich you can possibly have? The secret is in the ingredients.
I’ve come across a few recipes, but the one by Divas Can Cook is my favorite base to get started with. If you want to make your own, get started with these ingredients.
Classic egg salad includes the following ingredients:
- hard boiled eggs, peeled and chopped into small cubes
- dijon mustard
- relish of choice (Divas Can Cook uses both dill and sweet relish)
- onion powder
- salt and pepper, to taste
In addition to this, you’ll need a couple of things to build your sandwich:
- bread of choice
- lettuce, tomato (optional)
Wanna kick your egg salad up a notch? Here are some awesome add-ins for your egg salad. You could also add these individually to your sandwich if you prefer:
- onions (I prefer red onions here)
- green olives (prepared and stuffed with pimentos is best)
- jalapeño, chipotle, or cayenne
- yellow mustard
- garlic powder
- other herbs and spices of choice
First thing’s first: you need to hard boil your eggs. To do that right, watch this video tutorial. Then, you can boil your eggs, let them cool, then chop them up before your next step.
Take your chopped up eggs and add in your other ingredients: the mayonnaise, the relish, the mustard, the seasonings, and so on.
Once that’s all done, add the salad to your bread (I like to toast my bread first), along with any other toppings, like lettuce, tomato, or onion.
Then that’s it, you’re done! Watch the video by Divas Can Cook below to watch this egg salad come together. You’re gonna love it!
