Once again, Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company is at it again with an out of this world pattern. This time, it’s called “Spice Rack” and the end result is incredible.
Believe it or not, it’s incredibly easy to make. It’s a very complicated looking design, but even beginners can do this with no issues.
Here’s what you’ll need to make it:
Like a lot of quilting blocks, you can create this with half square triangles. You’ll sew 4 half square triangles together in a way that creates an arrow or a “v” shape.
This is also known as a Chevron block.
These 4 half square triangles create a single block. The alternating block is much simpler: it’s just a solid piece of fabric the same size as your finished block.
As for the arrangement, that’s all up to you, but Jenny does it in such a way that the arrows create a diamond shape around the solid blocks.
Do one solid block followed by the half square triangle block, arrange it how you’d like, and the basic quilt top is done. Then comes the border. Add that, your batting and your backing, and you’re done!
