One of the most well-known quilting techniques is English paper piecing. It yields lovely results, and all starts by piecing together a ton of little hexagons.
These hexagons are combined to make all sorts of things, like floral patterns, or applique designs.
The pieces are small, so it’s a great way to use scraps, or you can use a few whole fabrics and great a gorgeous cohesive pattern as well.
Once I started cutting and sewing these little hexagons together myself, I was hooked! It’s a great take-along project, especially if you aren’t planning on making a whole quilt.
Today’s more intricate fabrics give it a modern twist, and instead of doing a whole quilt, you can create smaller items like a table mat.
