During the summer is the best time to buy and eat berries. That’s why when I saw this fabric, I figured summer was the best time to use berry fabric, especially for some placemats you can use outside!

I absolutely love these placemats. I started making them as soon as I saw this tutorial, and now they’re ready for my 4th of July barbecue.

On Pinterest I noticed that people are making these in a miniature size and calling them “mug rugs” to set their coffee mugs on and they are super cute. So, while I’m at it, I’m gonna give those a shot as well.

It’s really simple. All you need is two fabrics for your strips, some batting, a backing, and another piece of fabric to fill the half circle the fabric makes. Cut the strips, sew them together with the batting and backing, and you’ll be done in no time!

Laura with Sew Very Easy suggests a great breakfast placemat– the same pattern, but with yellow and orange! I’m going to be making those next and pair them with my mug rugs.
