Tammy Wynette is a country music legend. Songs such as “Stand By Your Man” and “D-I-V-O-R-C-E” paved her path to becoming one of the most influential country music artists of all time.

A little known fact about Tammy, however, is the fact that she was also an amazing cook. My favorite recipe of hers is her pumpkin bread, which is perfect for fall.

I think the coolest thing about Tammy’s recipe is the fact that she wrote it out herself by hand. I’ve tried out a lot of celebrity recipes, but very few of them are still handwritten!

Tammy Wynette’s Handwritten Recipe

In case you have a little trouble reading the handwritten version, the full recipe is below so you can try it yourself! Here’s how you do it.

You will need:

  • 3 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 3 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups mashed pumpkin
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Mix dry ingredients in one bowl and wet ingredients in another, leaving out the nuts. Add the dry to the wet in parts, stirring until all combined. Add nuts.

Grease 2 bundt pans and fill with the batter. Bake for approximately 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Wait for it to cool, then serve!

Enjoy!
