Whenever I show any of my friends this finished quilt, none of them believe me when I tell them how easy it was to make. This is perfect for beginners, but it doesn’t look like it!
I found a tutorial that teaches you how to make it. It has some great tips about making Y seams, perfect points, and pushing your seam allowance.
For 8 point stars, you need to cut the diamonds at an angle of 45 degrees. cutting at an angle of 60 degrees will create 6 point stars. Each finished block will end up being 11″.
You’ll need two strips that are 20-22″ long with a 2-3/4″ width. If you’d like a little bit of movement to the star, you can use multiple fabrics.
The background squares are 3-3/4″ squares and will be placed in the corner of the block. The triangles used quarter squares. They are straight grain with the bias on the inside.
