Antique Lace
For a while now, I’ve been tired of making classic quilt blocks. As fun and beautiful as they are, they’re something I’ve become so used to… it was time for something new!
Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company never fails me. As soon as I started thinking this, I looked up a quilting tutorial, and I found this one.
I’ve never seen a quilt block quite like this. She calls it “antique lace,” and the intricate pattern the blocks create really fit that description– there’s something very lace like and delicate about this pattern.
Don’t let its intricacies fool you. This is much easier to put together than it looks. I was intimidated when I first saw it, but after sewing one up, I was beyond surprised.

How It’s Done
The center of this block is a simple pinwheel, which is easy enough as it is. Then, you’ll surround that with some strips and half square triangles. Easy enough, right?
Watch Jenny create this quilt in the video below to figure out how to arrange the block as you sew. It’s pretty straightforward, and once you sew the blocks together, it creates even more gorgeousness!
Good luck and happy quilting!
