Aztec Quilt
Every once in a while, you find a quilt that catches your eye in a whole new way. This Aztec quilt is definitely at the top of my list of eye-catching quilts: it’s different in the best way possible!
Try sewing up this quilt and people will be in awe of it. I know I was when I first saw it. When I first sewed it up, I was in awe of my work, and it was so easy!
I found the tutorial from Art Gallery Fabrics, and I’m so glad I did. This easy quilt was a blast to make!
Making The Aztec
This block is probably one of the easiest I’ve ever done, but it looks so cool and unique. Its crazy what you can do with 4 kinds of fabric and a sewing machine.
Here’s how you can make it for yourself.
You can go about this one of two ways: with blocks of fabric or with strip sets. If you use blocks of fabric, you’ll have to cut them into strips all of the same width.
From here, you’ll be sewing together 4 sub blocks to get to the final product. Each of those sub blocks is an angled strip that ascends in size as you go from the top to the bottom.
The opposite fabric descends from the top to the bottom, following the same angled design. To switch it up even more, use 4 different fabrics: two solids and two Aztec-patterned ones.
Your finished blocks will have this funky geometric design that you’ll love sewing together. With a bright coordinating border or two, this quilt is a real eye catcher, and something you’ll definitely want in your collection.
