Have you ever needed to shave but ran out of shaving cream? That’s happened to me too many times, especially when I’m in a hurry. I feel like every time I want to wear shorts, I’m out of shaving cream.

Had I known about this DIY version of shaving cream, I wouldn’t have freaked out nearly as many times. I always have everything that’s needed for this recipe, so now I can just do this all the time.

The best part of this shaving cream for me is the packaging. It’s made from a mason jar and an old soap pump!

You’ll need to be careful with the glass mason jar (or get a plastic one like I did), but it’s so cute and convenient!

To make this, you’ll need:

  • 1/2 cup shampoo
  • 1 1/2 cup conditioner
  • 5 tbsp. lotion of your choice
  • 3 tbsp. melted coconut oil, or another oil of your choice if you prefer
  • Mason jar
  • Soap or lotion pump
  • Scissors/cutter (if you need to shorten the pump to fit the jar)
  • Screwdriver (to poke a hole in the jar lid)
  • Pliers (to open the hole more)
  • Hot glue gun/ hot glue

To make your shaving cream, mix the shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and oil. If you want the formula thinner, add more shampoo. If you’d like it thicker, add more conditioner.

Use your screwdriver to poke a hole in the lid of your mason jar, then use the pliers to make the hole big enough for the soap pump.

Use hot glue to seal the jagged edges and keep the soap pump in place. Let dry completely, then screw it on and you’re done!
