Rising Star

Recently I stumbled upon a unique quilt that reminded me of a compass. Not only is it stunning to look at, but it’s something I just felt like I needed to make.

It’s called the “Rising Star.” From afar, this quilt looked insanely difficult to make. The star looks so thin and intricate, but they’re surprisingly easy to create.

Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company shows how simple it truly is in her video tutorial. Once I saw what the blocks were actually made of, it made so much sense.

So do you want to make this adorable quilt yourself? Let’s get started by gathering what you’ll need.

Sew It Up

Each of these blocks is made up of 4 smaller blocks. You’ll use a background fabric and a few strips of color to surround the background corner. Two similarly sized triangles frame the background here.

Once you make one of those blocks, you’ll join four together to form your overall pattern: a gorgeous star that you’ll want to stare at all day.

Watch Jenny sew it up in the video below, and you’ll be blown away at how easy it really is to make. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, you’ll be able to make this stunner!
