It seems that a lot of people I know are either pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or just had a baby. With all of that comes the need to buy a ton of baby gifts.

Or, you could be like me and make some baby gifts instead.

I prefer making little quilts for new babies. I think a baby blanket is such an iconic thing in people’s lives. When they grow up, they remember that little blanket, and that’s why making it is so special.

Laura from SewVeryEasy is at it again with this precious little quilt. She uses fabric panels with fairy photos to assemble this together. Each panel is 7.5″ x 6.5″.

In between each panel, she uses a piece of fabric that’s the same size, and finishes it off with 2.5″ borders on both the panels and the additional fabric.

Once you add your batting, backing, and outer border, you have a completed quilt that any parent or parent-to-be will love for their child.

If you want to add a little more personality, you can use a bright fabric for your backing, or even introduce some free motion stitching. Either way, it’s adorable!

What kind of panel will you use to make yours?
