Beds For Your Four-Legged Friends
I’m obsessed with my dog. I would do anything for him, and I love seeing his happy little face when I get home from work.
Something I’m not obsessed with is my pile of fabric scraps. I have so many that there’s no way I could create a quilt with them that had a cohesive design.
So I decided to combine my love of my dog and my hatred of my scraps together: I made him a dog bed with the scraps, and it was so easy to do!
The idea comes from Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company, and here’s how you do it.
Here’s what you need to make the dog bed:
- 1/2 yard of fabric, or more for a larger dog. Jenny uses fleece, but you can use whatever you’d like.
- trash bin (trust me on this, it makes a HUGE difference!)
- your rogue fabric scraps
- batting (optional)
Dog Bed DIY
Making this little pet bed couldn’t be any easier. If you’re adding batting to your project, first begin by sewing the batting to the wrong side of the fabric
Sew up the sides of your fabric, folding it in the middle to create a little bag. Add in your fabric scraps for a stuffing, then sew up the top if you’d like, and boom! You’ve got a dog bed.
With the addition of the batting, the bed will be a lot smoother. If you don’t have top stitch sewn in, then you have a useful bag of fabric scraps that doubles as a dog bed. Talk about multi tasking!
Regardless of how you decide to sew up this dog bed, your four-legged friend is guaranteed to love it, and you’ll have a ton of fun making it!
