If you sew or quilt, you know how common it is to prick your fingers with a needle or pin, but when you accidentally cut yourself with the blade of some scissors, it hurts so much more.

It’s a rare occurrence for me, but I still take precautions to make sure I don’t hurt myself. That, and I’ll use any excuse to start another sewing project.

This DIY scissors pouch looks super cute, will protect your hands from the blade, and has multiple pockets that are perfect for storing all sorts of things.

Here’s how you make it.

You will need:

  • 2 color-coordinated fabrics in 9″x11″
  • Batting or foam of your choice
  • Sewing machine/ thread & needle
  • Ribbon or trim of your choice
  • Embellishments like a button or rhinestones

First, take your two pieces of fabric and place them right sides together. Sew them all the way around, leaving a 4 inch opening on one side and a 1/4″ seam allowance.

Flip is right side out, then place in your batting or foam, straighten it out, then sew it shut. Fold the fabric like she instructs in the video below, then sew it around again.

Add your trim of choice to make a hanging loop. Add your embellishments, and you’re done!

These make a great gift for any sewer, and they’re super simple to make. Check out the tutorial below and get started on your own!
