I love me a good cocktail after a long and stressful day. One of the best end-of-day cocktails is a mint julep. In most cases, these will let you unwind in your favorite chair, then go back to business a short time later.
But not this cocktail. This mint julep has so much bourbon in it that it might just induce a coma, and I’m barely kidding.
She says the drink calls for 2 ounces of bourbon. Does this look like 2 ounces to you? No, it looks like enough alcohol to tranquilize an elephant. This is enough bourbon to send Jim Beam himself to the great beyond.
So, if you’re a fan of mint juleps and a very strong drink, here’s the easy-to-follow recipe. You will need:
– Roughly 3 sprigs of mint, with more or less depending on the size of the glass.
– Ice.
– Sugar cubes, to taste.
– “2 ounces” of bourbon (She says 2 ounces, but it’s probably 4 gallons per ounce, or to taste).
Start with your mint and sugar cubes. Muddle the two together, using whatever method you have available. She uses the back of a wooden spoon. Then fill the glass with ice and pour your “two ounces” of bourbon.
Finally, shake the mixture all together. You can use a cocktail shaker for this, or pour it between two glasses for the same effect.
If you or any of the friends you share this with end up in the hospital, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Enjoy!
