Easy Clamshell Quilt
I love clamshell quilts and always have. I think they are absolutely stunning. The only issue with them is the construction. It’s usually so hard!
Well, not anymore. In fact, the clamshell quilt can be insanely easy. All you need to do is learn from the master. I think you guys already know who I’m talking about… Jenny Doan.
Jenny from Missouri Star Quilt Company never steers me wrong. Once again, she’s turned a super hard quilt into something anyone can do. This time, it’s the clamshell!
To do this clamshell hack, you’ll need to grab your supplies first. What makes this quilt so easy is the template set she uses.
If you can’t get ahold of the exact template in the supply list below, not to worry. Just make your own out of cardboard or whatever else is available.
With that in mind, here’s what you’ll need to make the quilt:
Now that you’ve got your supplies all together, it’s time to get started on making your quilt. Use the small circle template to create cuts in your 5″ squares, then mix and match them.
From here, build your quilt top. Jenny shows you how to do this. When everything comes together, 4 blocks will form one full clamshell. Once you have the quilt top sewed together, it’s time for the finishing touches.
Surround your quilt top with the border(s) of your choice, then add your batting and your backing. Quilt it all together and add any necessary free motion.
Then that’s it, the quilt is done! For more tips and tricks, be sure to watch Missouri Star Quilt Company‘s video below. It’s a lot easier than you’d think!
Have fun and happy quilting!
