Meatballs: they’re amazing. There’s no debate here. They’re amazing alone, on top of pasta, as an appetizer or as a main course. When they’re stuffed with cheese? They’re even better.
Mozzarella-stuffed meatballs are the ultimate meatball experience, especially when they’re slow cooked. The meat stays incredibly tender, the cheese is ultra-melty, and the sauce flavored the whole thing.
Now that I have you drooling, here’s how you make them.
The ingredients you will need are:
- mozzarella cheese, cubed into small pieces
- 16 oz. ground beef
- 16 oz. hot Italian sausage
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup parmesan
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup parsley
- tomato sauce for cooking
Let’s Get Cookin’
Mix together your beef, Italian sausage, garlic powder, salt, pepper, bread crumbs, eggs, parmesan, whole milk, and parsley. Form this mixture into balls once thoroughly combined.
Make a little bowl in the meatball and add your mozzarella. Enclose the mozzarella with the meat, and you’re ready to add these little guys to tomato sauce!
In your slow cooker, add tomato sauce, followed by the meatballs, then add more tomato sauce on top. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 5 hours. Check the meat for your preferred level of doneness.
Serve them with pasta or even on their own. Either way, you’ll adore them.
