Mt. Dew Dorito Pie

Doritos and Mountain Dew. Is there anything more American than that? Honestly, the answer is probably no, unless we’re talking about apple pie.

So, to make the ultimate American meal, just combine all three: Mountain Dew, Doritos, and pie. What do you get? A Mountain Dew pie with a Doritos crust, and it’s surprisingly delicious.

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make this truly unique pie recipe:

  • 2 cups Mountain Dew soda
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups of crushed Doritos (red bag preferably, you’ll need 1 large bag)
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
  • 1 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
  • green food coloring (optional)
  • 1 oz. package Cool Whip

Making The Pie

First, in a saucepan, combine 2 cups of Mountain Dew with 1/2 cup of sugar. Boil it until it reduces by half, creating a syrup. Let the syrup cool while you move on to the next step.

Crush a large bag of Doritos into crumbs and add 1/2 cup of melted butter to them. Add those crumbs to a tart tin and press them in. Set it in the fridge for about an hour so it firms up.

Now, in another bowl, mix together the can of sweetened condensed milk, 3 tablespoons of the Mountain Dew syrup, the Cool Whip, and the food coloring.

Put this mixture into the Dorito crust, then refrigerate for another 4 hours until fully set. Then that’s it, the pie is done! Top it with some more Cool Whip and a Dorito.
