Diagonal half-squares make for adorable blocks as they are, but when I saw this pattern, my jaw literally dropped– what a creative way to use such an easy block!
Angela with The Midnight Quilting Show came up with this idea. She uses ombré fabric, then creates unique diagonal half squares with the colors.
The way these are arranged is what makes all the difference. Each block has its own personality, with some having more triangles than others. They’re then arranged by color, and the result is stunning.
All you need to do to make these blocks is make a regular half-square triangle with 1/4″ seams, then build on that. You can do as many or as few triangles as you’d like.
This project is a great way to practice 1/4″ seams, and the end result is insane. I would make 80 of these if I had the time. I think everyone should have one!
