Growing up, I always remember that the ultimate wrong-doing in cartoons was breaking someone’s expensive vase. It was like the ultimate must-have item and I never understood it.

Now that I’m an adult, I understand it much more. Vases can be so cute! However, one thing from those cartoons is still 100% true: vases are way too easy to break.

The solution? Recycle to make your own. All you need is some plastic spoons and a large plastic bottle to make a vase that is entirely your own– and completely unbreakable!

Let’s get started making this baby.

Here’s what you’ll need to make the vase:

Basically, this DIY is the ultimate way to recycle plastic. You’ve got a ton of plastic spoons, a huge plastic bottle, and a little bit of flair from the paint and jewels you choose.

First thing’s first: use your scissors to cut the stems off your spoons so the head is all you have left. Then, paint them however you’d like. It may help to plan out where the spoons will be glued on first.

Once you’ve painted the spoons and they’ve dried, you may want to paint your plastic bottle just in case any empty spaces peek through. Cut off the top of the bottle.

Now, add any jewels, sequins, or decorations you’d like to the spoons, and glue everything on to your bottle. Then you can use it as a vase and it’s done!
