Truck Planter
Recently, I’ve stumbled upon gorgeous planters that look like little pickup trucks. Talk about adorable! I knew immediately I wanted one for myself, but they run a little bit on the expensive side.
Since I love DIY, I decided I wanted to make my own. With a quick search on YouTube, I found a video by Jay Munee DIY, and she made this planter from stuff she found at the dollar store!
Not only that, but this planter doesn’t look cheap at all. Who knew that the dollar store could give you supplies to make something that looks so expensive?
Now that I’ve found this, I can’t stop sharing it with everyone, and I can’t wait for you to be able to make your own, too! With that in mind, let’s get started by grabbing your supplies, shall we?
You will need:
- 8″x10″ Canvas (2)
- 6″x8″ Canvas (2)
- 1 pack Jumbo Craft Sticks
- 4 bamboo cutting boards (or another small wood piece at the dollar store)
- wood glue of choice
- 2 1/2- 3 boxes dollar store Jenga-like game
- 2 packs magnetic tins (you can also use jar lids, candle lids, or whatever else you have around)
- wood cut outs for the tire (you can also just paint this on)
- paint or stain of choice
Making this is super simple. Start by removing the canvases from the canvas frames. You can use a staple remover to do this. From here, use your wood glue and popsicle sticks to build boxes.
Once you make your boxes, you can move on to making the top of the truck and the wheels. With the Jenga-like game, you can build additional parts of the truck, like the top windows or the bumpers.
In addition, you can create your wheels. Jay uses magnetic tins, some wood cutouts, and some paint, but you can make wheels however you see fit.
With a little more glue, some paint, and some flowers, you’re all done! Seriously, it’s that easy, and it looks super expensive. Who needs to spend a ton of money when you can make it like this?
