My children get very bored over the holidays and thigs can easily go haywire at a moment’s notice, so to keep everyone on track, I keep boxes of projects that I can pull out and put in the middle of the table and seat them quietly all round to focus their attention on their own creative spirit. I keep a few boxes of sock projects on hand and one of my favorites is the DIY Sock Santa. This is such a cute, fun project, everyone from old to young love it. You get started by simply filling a white sock with rice and tie it off, then squeeze the top part together, making a head for Santa.
Then you simply dress him in a red sock and add his costume details. I stuffed his arms with cotton and had a strip of white pom pom trim that I cut the pom poms off of and glued the trim around his cute red hat I had made from a sock.
I made Santa a black belt out of felt and a buckle I cut off an old shoe. Then I made his white fury trim out of a sheet of cotton wool. I made some eyes and a mustache and some felt feet.
I can’t tell you the fun the kids and I had making this DIY Sock Santa. He was cheap and easy, the funniest thing was the fact that I realized I think I enjoy these projects more than the children!
