Vintage Blossom

Have you ever seen a quilt so gorgeous, you needed to start sewing it as soon as you saw it? Same here, and I found that in the Vintage Blossom by Jenny at Missouri Star Quilt Company.

This quilt is perfect for spring and it’s super simple. I don’t think anything could be better than that. The block reminds me of the flowers I used to draw on the side of my notebook in elementary school.

The block is just as easy to make as those flowers were to draw. Wanna get started on your own? Grab your materials to get started.

Now that you’ve gathered your supplies, let’s start making this baby, shall we? Each piece is made up of 7 hexagons and surrounded with background fabric to make a 12″ square block.

How It’s Done

A half hexagon template makes things incredibly easy by allowing you to form the hexagon cuts in a flash. Create 14 of these half hexagons and sew together 7 hexagons.

Just like Jenny shows in the tutorial, you’ll then sew together the background pieces to the hexagons to create the blocks. Then, it’s time for the cornerstones.

Surround your blocks with borders and small cornerstones to complete the quilt top. Then, add any additional borders, and you’re ready to sew on your batting and backing fabric.

After this, you’re welcome to add any free motion designs to your quilt. Other than this, you’re done! How easy was that?

Watch Jenny make this quilt in the video below, then get started on making your own. It’s so simple, you can practically do it with your eyes closed!
