There’s not a lot of things in this world that are more beautiful than the night sky. Any decor inspired by the night sky adds that beauty to any space you’d like, so I’ve been stocking up on it.

Not only have I been stocking up, I’ve been making my own. Probably the best thing I’ve made so far is this easy constellation canvas. Once it’s done, it’ll easily be the most gorgeous thing in the room.

Luckily, it’s super easy to make. Here’s how you do it.

You will need:

  • A canvas
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Reference photo
  • White paint markers in various sizes
  • Ruler
  • Nail
  • String lights

Making it is easy. Just take your canvas and paint it with 2 coats of black acrylic paint, or until it’s opaque. Wait for it to dry.

Once it’s dry, use your reference photo, white markers, and ruler to draw your constellations over the black paint. Don’t worry about making it exact, just follow it the best you can.

Draw stars over your points, then use your thinner marker to draw stars in the empty black spaces. It’ll make it look like there are stars off in the distance.

Once that paint marker dries, use your nail to poke holes over the points in your constellations. Then, from the back of your canvas, put in one string light for each point. From the back, it’ll look almost snake-like.

Plug it in, hang it up, an you’re done!

I love how gorgeous this looks hanging on my bedroom wall. I get so many questions asking where I got it, and when I tell my friends I made it myself, their jaws drop.

I hope you give this a try yourself and are as proud of yours as I am of mine. What constellations will you choose?
