The Free “Twist & Shout”

“Twist And Shout” isn’t only a hit by The Beatles anymore. It’s now an adorable quilt based on the classic four-patch quilt.

If you’ve never done a four-patch before, it’s one of the easiest blocks there is. Basically, take two squares of fabric. Cut them each into four squares. Then, take two of each to form two new blocks.

Easy, right? Now that you know that, you’ll probably want to kick it up a notch. You can do that by turning your four patch into a “Twist and Shout” block!

If you know how to do a four patch quilt, then you will love making this quilt by Donna Jordan at Jordan Fabrics. Not only is it incredibly simple, but it’s super unique, too!

Donna never steers me wrong. Her patterns are always stunning, but this one in particular made me incredibly excited. Why? Not only is it beautiful, but it’s free!

That’s right, a free written pattern is available in addition to the video tutorial below, so if you want more resources than our written tutorial, click here for the pattern or watch the video below.

Now without any further adieu, let’s get started on making this beautiful quilt, shall we?

Start by making your four patch. Then, grab a ruler and get to cutting a strip down the center, forming a cross. Twist it around the pieces of fabric like Donna shows.

Then, sew back up your block and create a quilt top from multiple iterations of this block. Then that’s it, you’re done! Watch Donna stitch it up below, and make sure to check out the free pattern!
