This may be the easiest quilt I’ve ever sewn up, and the most meaningful. The blocks are made from old t-shirts, and I designed it as I sewed. It’s just as easy as it is sentimental!
If you have a family member that isn’t around anymore, a long distance love, or a baby that’s grown up too fast, this is the quilt for you. Any level of quilting skill can be used here.
If you want to cut the t-shirts into regular square blocks, you can. If you want to make them into half square triangles, you can. If you want to make strips, you can. The choice is entirely yours.
It’s a great way to upcycle old shirts, so if you want to get rid of a ton of t-shirts but have a sentimental connection to them, here’s what you can do with them.
I think my absolute favorite thing about this quilt is the sentimental value. It’s great for remembering those who’ve passed on, those who are deployed, and those who are away for a while. It’s also amazing for remembering an older time in your life.
It also makes a great gift for someone who is going through a major life change. I’ve seen these being given to someone who’s lost a loved one, and they always end up loving it.
