If I could just make everything in the world homemade I would, but it all takes time and commitment. It’s easier to opt for a ranch bottle on the shelf at a grocery store instead of making it, but this homemade ranch sauce by fixitsamo is made with fresh ingredients. I love the idea of making homemade ranch because I can substitute any ingredients that I would need or add any extra seasonings. For example, I would use alternatives such as low-fat sour cream and mayonnaise because regular sour cream, mayo, and milk can be too heavy for me. This homemade ranch sauce can be used as a dip for chips, baked potatoes, chicken nuggets, wings, or as a salad dressing.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp dried dill
  • 1/2 dried chives
  • 1/2 dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Directions:

First, mix your base by adding mayo, sour cream, milk, and lemon juice. Then, add the seasoning such dried dill, chives, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper to taste. Whisk everything together until it’s thoroughly combined.

Next, taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. For best flavor, put it in the fridge for at least 2 hours before serving. Serve it however you like, but if the consistency is too thick, add milk a little at a time and mix.

Overall, I think I would try to make this recipe at home. I don’t eat ranch often at all, so I think it would be a great idea to make my own homemade ranch sauce. I love having dips for raw vegetables, and this reminds me of Tzatziki sauce. The best way to preserve this ranch sauce would be in an airtight container for a week in the fridge.
