Easy & New
Looking for a new block to make? Don’t want to put in a ton of effort learning how to make a new block? Then I have the project for you.
It’s called “Garden Stars” and it combines all of the easiest quilting techniques you already know: four patches, half square triangles, and a plain square of fabric in the middle.
Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company stitches up this simple block in one of her video tutorials. It really couldn’t be much easier than this, so if you’re ready, let’s get started!
Here’s what you’re gonna need:
Piecing It Together
This block is made up of 9 mini blocks. This may sound like a lot, but considering how easy these blocks are, it’s a breeze to put together.
4 of the 9 blocks are a simple 4 patch. Jenny uses 3 colors for this. 4 more of the blocks are half square triangles, and one block in the center is just a solid fabric.
With all of these stitched together, a beautiful garden star is born. There are some stars and sashing surrounding the initial block as well, which Jenny explains in her tutorial below.
This simple quilt will easily become one of your favorites in your collection. Easy to make and gorgeous? What could be better than that?
Good luck!
