There are two things I want a holiday outfit to do for me: keep me warm, and keep me looking good. It’s also a bonus if that outfit is dirt cheap, but sometimes that just can’t be done.
This time, however, it cane be. I found a tutorial for upcycling an old sweater into a gorgeous new one with sequin elbow pads. Beyond cute, right?
All you’re going to need is:
- A sweater of your choice
- Sequin fabric
- A sewing machine/kit
- Piece of paper
- Marker
- Scissors
Measure how big you’d like the pad by taking a look at your sweater, then use the marker to mark how big you’d like the pads to be on your paper. Cut out your template.
Use your template to cut out a couple pieces of sequin fabric– one for each elbow. Then, use your sewing kit or machine to stitch the fabric on to each elbow, making sure not to sew the sleeve shut.
After that, you’re done! An old sweater, just like new with one simple addition… and a perfect holiday top!
