I love unique quilt patterns, and I have to say, this free pattern may be one of the most interesting blocks I’ve ever done. Once you put the whole quilt together, it’s absolutely stunning.

It’s called a snail’s trail, and though the name may not sound too enticing, the end result is completely worth it– especially since the pattern is completely free!

Making this quilt may look pretty complicated, but it’s much easier than it looks. It involves some 4 square blocks, a few triangles, and building upon those two elements.

You can use a wide array of fabrics for this, but I find using two coordinating patterns per block along with other coordinating patterns for the rest of the quilt works particularly well.

With the right colors, this is the perfect quilt to wrap yourself in during the cold months!

Once you pick out your patterns and/or colors, creating the full block is pretty simple, and you can make it pretty quickly. Angela from Midnight Quilt Show shows you how to do it in the video below.

What kind of fabrics will you use to make this snail’s trail your own?
