Horchata has always been one of my favorite drinks, and once I became legally of age, I learned a boozy twist on it that I knew I had to share one day– adding Fireball whiskey.

One thing I didn’t think I’d find while doing research for this post, however was that boozy twist I loved in an even better form– a popsicle!

Imagine the deliciousness of a horchata and a popsicle on a hot summer day. If that wasn’t already delicious enough, imagine it with a kick of Fireball.

I know, you’re probably drooling by now, right? I know I was when I saw the recipe. Here’s what you’ll need to make your own, along with a popsicle mold:

  • long grain white rice
  • cinnamon sticks
  • warm water
  • rice milk
  • white sugar
  • cinnamon whiskey (such as Fireball)
  • cayenne pepper
  • ground cinnamon

Start by grinding your rice, then add your water and cinnamon sticks and let it rest for 8 hours. Strain the liquids and discard the rice. Stir in your rice milk and sugar.

Now, mix the horchata you just made with the cinnamon whiskey, cinnamon and cayenne. Pour the mixture into popsicle molds, then freeze for 12 hours.

Once they’re out of the freezer, they’re ready to enjoy (for those legally allowed to drink alcohol, of course)!

If you’d like, you can add more cinnamon to them as soon as they come out of the freezer. You can also choose to make them nonalcoholic. The little ones will love these!

Enjoy these before the summer heat runs out. Enjoy!
