If you are in need of some new wall art, some more lighting, or both, then do I have the DIY project for you. It’s a light-up rope sign that puts a little rustic twist on any space.

This little rope sign comes from CBC Life on YouTube, and not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but it’s super easy to make. With a few little tweaks, you can change the vibe entirely too.

With colored rope, a different word choice, a symbol, or a combination of the two, you can make this entirely your own. The basic version doesn’t use a lot of materials either, so you can start by gathering the following:

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • string of rope lights
  • aluminum wire
  • wire cutters
  • zip ties
  • brass wire
  • rope
  • hammer and nails to hang

How It’s Made

Start by tightly wrapping the wire around your rope lights. Avoid bending the actual lights too much. Cut off the excess wire with your wire cutters.

Shape your letters and use the zip ties to keep everything in place. Snip away the excess plastic from the zip ties.

Fasten the end of your rope with the brass wire. Then, place the rope over your string of rope lights, using the brass wire to keep it in place. That’s your finished sign!

Hang it up on your wall of choice with your hammer and nails. Then that’s it, you’re done! It looks so good as wall art, and with the added lighting, there’s nothing not to love!
