The North Star is more than just a way to find home in movies– it’s now a quilt, and one of my favorite block patterns!
Making the quilt is a lot easier that the intricate pattern makes it look. Here’s what you need to get it done, and you can buy the exact supplies here.
In addition to your fabric, you’ll need a quilting ruler, rotary cutter, a sewing machine, and some scissors.
Each block will be 11″, and start by having a 2.5″ square of white and a 2.5″ square of color. Take the two and sew a diagonal line from one corner to the other, then press.
Cut that in half along the seam, then border it with a 1.5″ strip. Try to keep the seams at a quarter inch.
Then you’ll take your color strip, and sew it on to your first square with a quarter inch seam. Go to the adjacent side of the square and repeat. Clip, then press the finished product open.
At every row, you’ll sew on a 2.5″ square.
Keep repeating this process, and eventually you’ll be done! If you’d like a more in-depth tutorial on how to make this awesome quilt, watch Missouri Star Quilt Company‘s video below, and get to quilting!
