This diamond chain by Missouri Star Quilt Company‘s Jenny Doan is just that. It’s called the “diamond chain,” and I guarantee that even beginning quilters already know how to do it.

It pulls together 2 super common blocks and uses them in a completely new way that you’re gonna love. I know I do!

Wanna make your own? Here’s what you’ll need:

Now that you’ve gathered your supplies, you’ll be happy to know that this quilt block is insanely easy.

It’s made out of two blocks you definitely already know how to do, and you’ve probably done them in the past. Those blocks? The half square triangle and the four patch.

Seriously, that’s it! For each block, make 2 half square triangles and 2 four patches. Each of these blocks has a different color scheme that coordinates with the rest of the block.

Once the full blocks are completed, it’s time to arrange. You’ll basically be putting corners together from the half square triangles, forming a diamond with every 4 blocks.

Sew them together in 4s, then build your quilt top. Add any free motion stitches, your batting, borders, and backing fabric, and then you’re completely done. That was easy!

Watch Jenny’s video tutorial below for more on how this is done, then you can get to making your own.
