Slanted Half-Hex Quilt Tutorial

I’ve done it: I have found the easiest quilt top in the world. It’s called the slanted half-hex and the “block” is simply a half hexagon. Just because it’s easy, doesn’t make it any less stunning.

Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company makes this quilt in her video tutorial, but this is so easy, you practically don’t even need it. Do you want to make this quilt yourself? Here’s how.

First, you’ll need to gather your supplies. This is what you’re going to need.

How To Sew The “Block”

Believe it or not, this quilt is made up of only half hexagons. That’s it. If you get ahold of a template, it makes cutting the blocks fast and easy.

If you want that template, you can get ahold of it by clicking here. If you don’t have the template, you can make one with a piece of cardboard or plastic.

Stack up your squares and cut out your half hexagons. Sew one half hexagon of background fabric to one of patterned fabric. Continue doing this, then tilt your hexagons and stitch them together.

Add any borders you’d like, then your batting and backing, and your quilt is done!

Watch Jenny make the quilt in the video below for more details. Then, you can make your own!
