Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company is back at it again with yet another awesome quilting tutorial. This time, it’s called the “English Garden.”
She says this quilt is organized yet natural, much like the gardening techniques of the English. I couldn’t agree with her more. It is colorful and bright, yet clean and organized. Gorgeous!
The best part of this quilt is how easy it is to make. You’ll have the whole thing done in a flash. I had mine done in a day!
If you wanna start making it yourself, let’s start with the supplies. Here’s what you’ll need:
Missouri Star Quilt Company / YouTubeMaking these blocks is actually super simple. Start by placing a 10″ printed square on to a 10″ background square right sides together, then sew them all the way around.
Using a rotary cutter, cut diagonally one way and then the other, forming 4 half square triangles. Then, you’ll cut out small squares of the coordinating solid.
Create corners with this fabric on the half square triangles, just like Jenny does in her video below. Each half square triangle will have two of these corners that face one another.
Now, sew those half square triangles together so that a square of your coordinating corners forms in the middle. Then that’s it. That’s your block!
Sew these all up, then add your borders, your batting, any free motion design, and your backing fabric. Bind it together, and you’re done!
