Believe it or not, though, there is a way to take this classic and make it a million times better: cheddar biscuits as a crust!

Wanna make this deliciousness yourself? Let’s gather your ingredients and start making it!

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

  • butter
  • flour
  • milk
  • rotisserie chicken
  • frozen peas and carrots
  • frozen pearl onions
  • potato
  • salt
  • pepper
  • biscuit flour
  • baking powder
  • baking soda
  • salt
  • buttermilk
  • egg
  • cheddar cheese
  • chives
  • for amounts of each, watch Tasty‘s video below.

How It’s Made

Start by creating your chicken gravy. Melt your butter in a pan, then add the flour. Wait for it to smell like cooked pie crust, then add your milk and wait for everything to dissolve together.

Add your shredded rotisserie chicken to the gravy, along with the peas, carrots, onions, chopped potatoes, salt and pepper. Cook for a bit until warmed through, and set aside.

In the meantime, make your biscuits. You can either follow the recipe in the video below, or go with store-bought biscuits. Whatever you prefer, do it.

Pour the chicken gravy into a baking dish. Place the biscuits on top of the chicken gravy, and brush with egg. Dust with cheddar cheese and bake as shown in the video below.

Once it’s out of the oven, top it with chives, and you’re ready to serve it!
