Unfortunately, some lip balm companies add chemicals that actually dry your lips out over time. Not exactly the best way to go about keeping your lips in good shape.

The best way to go about it is to make your own. You stay away from chemicals that actually dry out your lips instead of hydrating them, and you can be sure what you’re wearing is good for you.

WhatsUpMoms on YouTube has come up with a great recipe to make your own lip balm, so let’s get started!

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to get started:

  • 4 tbs beeswax
  • 4 tbs coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vitamin E oil (optional, for extra moisture)
  • 6-8 drops essential or flavor oil (for scent and flavor, optional)
  • lipstick (optional, for tint)
  • container

First, melt together your beeswax and coconut oil in either a microwave or a double boiler. Then, add your vitamin E, essential/flavor oil(s), and lipstick. Make sure it’s all melted.

Now, take apart your container and pour the mixture inside. You can put this in whatever you’d like. WhatsUpMoms uses an old EOS lip balm, but you can use whatever you’d like.

Let it dry completely. Now, it’s ready to use! If you want to know how to put your lip balm into an old EOS, take a look at WhatsUpMoms video below. Then you can start making your own!
