As the seasons change, sometimes your skin can get a little out of whack. When summer starts to cool off and fall is on its way, my skin becomes super dry and flaky. Not cute.
When my skin gets this way, I’ve found the only remedy that works is a really good moisturizer and a moisturizing body scrub.
I make my moisturizing body scrub myself, because I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to spend a ton of money on something that I literally rinse down the drain.
Making a body scrub is super easy. You can adjust the ingredients to fit your personal needs, but this recipe I found from Better Shea Butter works super well for me. That, and it’s soooo relaxing…
You will need:
- 5 oz. salt
- 2 oz. brown sugar
- 2 oz. almond oil (if you’re allergic to almonds, you can also use sunflower or olive oil)
- 1 tsp. castor oil
- 40 drops tea tree oil, 30 drops lavender essential oil, & 30 drops eucalyptus essential oil (or any essential oils you’d prefer)
First, use a blender to blend the salt and sugar together until all of the granules for the scrub are the same size.
Then, mix in your oils! Brown sugar absorbs the oil really well, so you’ll notice this scrub doesn’t seem very wet when finished.
Most importantly, when you use this, do not use this on your face or any other sensitive skin. It’s too harsh and can cause micro tears in the surface.
