Recently I stumbled upon a super easy DIY sewing machine pad that not only creates a cushiony barrier between your machine and the table, but has so many more uses, too!

Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company created this versatile sewing machine pad. It has pockets to hold supplies, too!

If you want this handy sewing machine pad, you don’t even really need a lot of supplies to get it done. In fact, you probably already have everything!

To makes this you will need:

  • 2 contrasting fabrics at 1/2 yard each.
  • 1/2 yard batting
  • Steam A Seam (this will iron a seam rather than needing to stitch more)

As for actually creating this, it’s pretty self explanatory. You’ll quilt together the two pieces of fabric with the batting in the center, and form a pocket on one of the sides.

The Steam A Seam makes it even easier. No need to finish everything off with a stitch all the way around. Just use an iron! If you do want to make a stitch around the pad, it’s all up to you.

My favorite part of this project is the kinds of fabric you can use. This is the perfect opportunity to use sewing-themed fabrics. Not many projects are good for that!

Whatever fabric you decide to use, you’re gonna get a ton of use out of this. Just watch Jenny’s tutorial below then give it a shot yourself!
