At a lot of bath & body companies, lotion bars have become super popular. You get all of the benefits of a great lotion or body butter, but in a compact little bar with no packaging to throw out later!
With the summer months coming to a close soon, the weather change will definitely have my skin acting up. So I decided to look for a DIY version of those lotion bars I see everywhere.
This one has matcha, a type of green tea that packs a ton of antioxidants. It’s really popular in food and in beauty right now, plus it’s pretty easy to get a hold of, so I knew it was the perfect recipe to try!
Here’s what you need.
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/2 cup beeswax
- 1/2 cup shea butter
- 1 tsp matcha
- 15 drops essential oil(s) of your choice
Melt the coconut oil, beeswax, and shea butter in the microwave, 30 seconds at a time, until liquified. Then, mix in the matcha and the essential oils.
Pour the mixture into a mold and either refrigerate it or let it harden overnight. If you want to make these for gifts, you can add green tea leaves or flower petals to the lotion bar for a more expensive look.
I love carrying one of these in my purse (in a little box, of course), because if my skin gets dry during the day I have instant, delicious-smelling moisture.
This basic recipe can make all sorts of lotion bars, so have at it and make the one that’s right for you.
